Throughout my portfolio and sustained investigation, I have been exploring the questions:

How is water present in our everyday lives? What emotions can water evoke? What role does water play in everyday situations?

My portfolio includes fifteen pieces – oil paintings and prints – each with a subject intended to highlight the beauty and simplicity of the presence of water in our everyday lives. From a glass of water, to a rainy day, water is all around us; however, it is often overlooked. Through my pieces, I wanted to achieve the different feelings of refreshment, tranquility, nostalgia and various other emotions that water can evoke. My goal was to create pieces with realistic detail that encourage the viewer to feel as if they are experiencing the scene first hand or as if they are able to reach out and grab the subject from off of the canvas. I hope that after seeing my portfolio the viewer is able to return to their own lives and acknowledge and appreciate not only the presence and impact of water, but also the presence and impact of other small miracles that they would typically overlook.
